Aliyah Sonnenberg
APPRENTICE
Aliyah is from Provo, Utah. She began her ballet training at the age of 11 at Center Stage Performing Arts Studio. In 2022, she joined Jacqueline’s School of Ballet as an apprentice with Utah Metropolitan Ballet 2. In 2024, she received training opportunities with Utah Metropolitan Ballet. She is honored to be an apprentice with UMB for the 2025–26 season.

Aliyah competed at the Youth America Grand Prix from 2023 to 2025, placing in the top 12. In 2023, she was invited to the finals as a soloist in Tampa, Florida. In 2024, she was invited to travel to Amsterdam for a workshop with the International Contemporary Ensemble. In 2025, she placed second and third for her contemporary solo and was invited to be a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble. With them, she traveled to Tampa, Florida, and the Lincoln Center in New York City to perform in the Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala.
Aliyah has been awarded scholarships to the John Cranko Summer Intensive and Colorado Ballet Academy, and she has been invited to summer programs with the European School of Ballet, Jacqueline’s School of Ballet, and International Contemporary Masters of Dance. She was also named the Sterling Scholar for Dance at Provo High School and has been accepted into the ballet programs at both the University of Utah and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Some of her favorite works include Balanchine’s Serenade, the role of Russian in Jacqueline Colledge’s Nutcracker, original pieces by Heather Gray, and PUPO by Sophia Nappi, performed with the International Contemporary Ensemble.
