Tribute is unlike anything else on Utah Metropolitan Ballet's season calendar. It is not a retelling of a classic story or a revival of a beloved fairy tale. It is something made entirely new, every single year, for one purpose: to celebrate the artists and leaders whose contributions to this community deserve to be recognized on the biggest stage we have.
Each season, Utah Metropolitan Ballet commissions an award-winning choreographer to create a world premiere ballet performed exclusively at Tribute. The choreography is always a mix of classical and contemporary movement, always original, and always performed with live musical elements, including vocal performance commissioned through the Ariel Bybee Endowment at the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts.
Woven throughout the evening are filmed interviews with the honorees and the people closest to them, telling the stories behind the work that has touched this community. It is part ballet, part portrait, and entirely unforgettable.
