Utah Metropolitan Ballet’s mission is to inspire, enrich, unite, educate and captivate our community. We instill an enduring devotion for the art of ballet by honoring the past while pursuing artistic innovation.
Utah Metropolitan Ballet, the premiere ballet company of Utah County, was founded in 1980 by Jacqueline P. Colledge. What began with only 6 students has grown into Utah Valley’s only professional ballet company with dancers employed from across the globe as well as locally. Among Utah Metropolitan Ballet's many achievements are the premiere of twelve original full-length ballets including, Cinderella, Coppelia, Hansel and Gretel, Thumbelina, La Coquette, Twelve Dancing Princesses, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Romeo and Juliet, Snow White and Legend of Timpanogos. The company has toured extensively in China, Austria and throughout the United States, as well as performing at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. UMB has also received multiple national and international awards.
Utah Metropolitan Ballet stages an annual season with full-scale professional productions. UMB provides audiences access to traditional, classical ballet as well as cutting-edge productions, local legends brought to life, and arts access for students and under-served communities.
